Filip Lindberg made 25 saves, Aaron Bohlinger scored his first career goal, and Massachusetts beat St. Cloud State 5-0 on Saturday night in Pittsburgh to win the program’s first NCAA title.
UMass (20-5-4), which extended its unbeaten streak to a program-record 14 games, made its third NCAA Tournament appearance. The Minutemen lost 3-0 to Minnesota Duluth in the 2019 title game. The 2020 Frozen Four was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
David Hrenak had 17 saves for St. Cloud State (20-11-0), which made the program’s first title game appearance.
MEN’S BASKETBALL: Vanderbilt guard Scotty Pippen Jr. has declared for the NBA draft without signing with an agent to keep his options open.
The son of six-time NBA champ Scottie Pippen, he ranked second in the Southeastern Conference both in scoring at 20.8 points and in assists at 4.8.
HORSE RACING
Rachael Blackmore became the first female jockey to win Britain’s grueling Grand National, breaking down one of the biggest gender barriers in sports.
Blackmore, a 31-year-old Irishwoman, rode Minella Times to a landmark victory at odds of 11-1 in the 173rd edition of the famous steeplechase at Aintree in Liverpool.
Blackmore is the 20th female jockey to compete in a race that has been a mud-splattered British sporting institution since 1839. Women have only been allowed to enter the National as jockeys since 1975.

U.S. WOMEN: The United States had a 16-match winning streak snapped in a 1-1 draw with Sweden in Stockholm, as Carli Lloyd made her 300th national team appearance.
Lina Hurtig put Sweden ahead off a set piece in the 38th minute. Megan Rapinoe’s penalty kick pulled the United States even in the 87th minute.
ENGLAND: Manchester City’s march to the Premier League title was halted by a 2-1 loss to 10-man Leeds, with Stuart Dallas scoring the winner in second-half stoppage time for his second goal of the game.
• Christian Pulisic scored twice for Chelsea in a 4-1 win at Crystal Palace that moved the team into fourth place.
• Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stoppage-time goal earned Liverpool a 2-1 win over Aston Villa as the soon-to-be-deposed champions ended their six-match home losing streak.
FRANCE: Kylian Mbappe struck his league-leading 21st goal of the season as defending champion Paris Saint-Germain won 4-1 at Strasbourg to stay three points behind leader Lille.
ITALY: Zlatan Ibrahimovic set up two goals before he was shown a red card at the hour mark as AC Milan won 3-1 at Parma, keeping its slim title hopes alive.
AC Milan is eight points behind league leader Inter Milan, which hosts Cagliari on Sunday.
GERMANY: Marcus Ingvartsen scored late for Union Berlin to grab a 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich, while Leipzig cut Bayern’s lead to five points with six rounds remaining by earning a 4-1 win at Werder Bremen.
SPAIN: Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos scored first-half goals, and Real Madrid moved into first place with a 2-1 win in pouring rain against visiting Barcelona.
Madrid is tied on points with Atletico Madrid, which can return to the top Sunday when it visits Real Betis. Real Madrid is ahead of its city rival on the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Barcelona, which had been unbeaten in 19 straight league games, stayed one point off the lead.
TENNIS
SARDEGNA OPEN: Lorenzo Sonego is one step away from becoming the first Italian in 15 years to capture an ATP clay-court title on home soil after beating second-seeded Taylor Fritz of the United States to reach the final in Cagliari, Sardinia.
Third-seeded Sonego prevailed 6-4, 5-7, 6-1, setting up a final against Laslo Djere of Serbia.
VOLVO CAR OPEN: Veronikia Kudermetova of Russia and Danka Kovinic of Montenegro will play for their first WTA title after winning in the semifinals at Charleston, South Carolina.
Kudermetova, the 15th seed, rolled past Spain’s Paula Badosa 6-3, 6-3, continuing a run at the year’s opening clay-court tournament where she hadn’t lost a set in four matches.
Kovinic, unseeded and ranked 91st in the world, defeated her No. 12 seed Ons Jabeur of Turkey, 6-3, 6-2.
