Gerald L. Lachapelle

TURNER – Gerald L. Lachapelle, Poplar Hill Road in Turner, passed away on March 4, 2021. He was 81 years old.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 4, 1940, the son of Origene and Bernadette (Lemieux) Lachapelle. He was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, earned a B.S. degree from Springfield College, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of New England in Biddeford.

He owned and operated Stromboli Enterprises Inc., a retail music business in Lewiston, for 26 years. The corporation sold and serviced pianos, organs, musical instruments, and high end audio components.

When the business closed in 1988, Gerry embarked on a new career in social services. He became a unit manager for substance abuse services at Tri-County Mental Health in Lewiston. Following his retirement from Tri-County, he accepted a position, training and certifying clinicians who provide the services to addicted populations in the criminal justice system. Gerry held three Maine clinical licenses.

On Nov. 4, 1972, he married the love of his life, Anita (Latulippe), who predeceased him on August 18, 2015. He was also predeceased by his parents; as well as by a sister, Venise (Lachapelle) Pepin.

Gerald was a cradle Catholic, and proud of his Catholic faith throughout his lifetime.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 27, at 11 a.m., in the chapel at St. Peter and Paul Basilica, Ash Street, Lewiston. Interment will take place after mass, in the Lachapelle family burial plot at St. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery, Switzerland Road, Lewiston. “Requiescat in pace.” Condolences may be accessed online at http://www.albert-burpee.com.
