Martha Lillian Libby Verrill

AUBURN – Martha Lillian Libby Verrill, 87, passed away on April 15, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 1, 1934, and lovingly adopted by her parents, Guy and Cynthia Libby of West Minot, Maine.

Martha graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952 and was a member of the marching band. She married her husband, Robert on Nov 1, 1952, in West Minot. After her husband served in the U.S. Army, they moved back to Maine and lived in Auburn until moving back to West Minot. During her time in Auburn she was best known as the “neighborhood mom” to many of the kids in the area. She enthusiastically followed her children and grandchildren to many sporting events. She was our best fan. Her love for adventures included marching in the Cherry Blossom Festival parade in Washington, D.C., snowmobiling, motorcycling, traveling in Europe, Canada, Alaska, a Caribbean cruise and across the United States on the back of Robert’s motorcycle. She was also an avid fan of all the New England sports teams, however, her favorite was known by all to be Tom Brady.

Martha worked several years for West Breeze Orchards and Wallingford’s. She was also employed at Lost Valley Ski Mountain, Lee Auto Group and Androscoggin Head Start. She also volunteered as a member of the Auburn Suburban Little League Auxillary, Girl Scouts and the Minot Historical Society.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Robert Verrill who passed in 1985.

She is survived by her children, Robert “Ed” Verrill, Jr., Nikki Verrill and partner Steven Holbrook, Julia Copp and husband Jeffrey, William “Bill” Verrill and wife Elaine and Michelle “Missi” Meserve and husband Cliff. As well as her grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Laura, John, Lee, Thom, Stan, Joshua, Shawn, Evan and U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant Matthew. She also has 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held graveside on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11 a.m., at Riverside Cemetery, West Minot, Maine. If inclement weather persists, visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Chandler Funeral Home, 26 West Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls.
