Paul Joseph Schwabe Jr.

PHILLIPS – Paul Joseph Schwabe Jr., 69, of Buckfield, Maine, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday March 30, 2021, at his sister’s home in Phillips, Maine. He battled esophageal cancer bravely and without complaint. He so appreciated the visits and phone calls from family and friends, especially his daughters.

Paul was born March 22, 1952, the son of Paul Joseph and Kathleen (Manchester) Schwabe. He grew up in Mechanic Falls, Maine, and spent each summer at the family’s camp in Poland, Maine enjoying many happy days with siblings and cousins. He attended Elm Street School and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1971. He married Anne Kuroly and they raised their four daughters in South Paris and Mechanic Falls. As a CNA Paul worked many years caring for disabled people first at Pineland Center until it closed and then for John F. Murphy Homes. It was obvious he cared deeply for the individuals he worked with and was very touched by the many cards, notes and pictures he received during his illness. Paul loved being a family man and enjoyed barbecues and playing cards with cousins and friends, lobster feeds, and also did some metal detecting.

Paul was predeceased by his parents and survived by his daughters, Christine Marie Schwabe, Catherine Anne Schwabe, Mariska Miller, Anne Marie Williams and her husband Chris; he is also survived by his sisters, Katherine Scribner and her husband Danny and Virginia Caron and partner, Gregg Cottle, four nephews, six grandchildren, many beloved cousins and ex-wife, Anne Clark and her husband Ron.

A graveside service conducted by Rev. Micah Bickford of Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 5, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanic Falls. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home, 26 W. Dwinal Street, Mechanic Falls. Online condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com
