PARIS — The Oxford County Commission has scheduled a site walk and hearing on the condition of Kezar Lake Road in Stow.

Residents of the road, which joins Union Hill Road near the Fryeburg town line, petitioned commissioners, complaining the road is not safely maintained, which Stow officials dispute.

The site walk is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, when Commissioners Steve Merrill, Tim Turner and David Duguay will meet at the Stow-Fryeburg line to inspect the road.

Following the site review, commissioners will gather at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds Expo Center at 2 p.m. for a hearing for the two parties. Commissioners have asked county attorney James Pross to serve as the hearing officer.

The petitioners and the town of Stow have until May 11 to submit a list of witnesses and exhibits. Written position papers addressed to the commissioners are due May 14  and cannot be longer than seven pages.

In other business…

In other business Tuesday, commissioners agreed to spend $2,500 for broadband service in Albany Township.

They also approved hiring of Ashley Bedard as a full-time sheriff’s clerk and accepted the resignation of Deputy Dennis Ryder.

Seeking a site for a new building to house the Sheriff’s Office, the regional dispatch center and county Emergency Management Agency, commissioners met with SRL Architects of Portland to inspect land behind the county jail on Western Avenue.
