DIXFIELD — Matt Marquis and Seth McKenney each had a double, and Monmouth held off Dirigo’s rally for an 8-6 baseball victory Wednesday.

Marquis had three hits in the game, while McKenney had two. Hayden Fletcher added a triple and two singles for the Mustangs (3-0).

The Cougars (1-1) trailed 7-1 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, then scored five runs to cut the deficit to one run. Monmouth added an insurance run in the top of the sixth.

TELSTAR 7, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 6: The Rebels scored in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Phoenix in Bethel.

Wil Doyle tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts for Telstar (2-3), while Davin Mason had two hits and drove in three runs.

Spruce Mountain’s (0-2) Jack Gilbert had a hit, three RBIs and stole home.

MT. ABRAM 19, BUCKFIELD 3: Trevor Phelps had five RBIs for the Roadrunners (5-0) in their win over the Bucks (0-3) in Buckfield.

Hunter Warren doubled and drove in four runs for Mt. Abram. Ben Debaise had three hits, including a double, while driving in three runs. Tucker Plouffe also had a double.

Taz Keough had a double that drove in two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for Buckfield.

WAYNFLETE/NYA 12, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Luke Josephson threw a three-hit shutout, fanning 13 batters, as the Flyers (3-1) blanked the Patriots (0-3) at Gray.

Cal Davies went 3 for 3, scoring twice, to lead the 13-hit attack for Waynflete. Josephson added two hits, and Derek Wolverton and Nolan Pecora tossed in a pair of hits each.

Mike Sweeney had a double for Gray-New Gloucester.

SOFTBALL
BUCKFIELD 17, MT. ABRAM 2: Addison Stevens-Belanger paced the Bucks (1-2) with a triple and a double against the Roadrunners (0-4) in Salem.

Emma Stevens-Belanger also had a double. She also pitched for Buckfield, and struck out two in a complete-game effort. Madison Turcotte and Alyssa Litchfield contributed two singles apiece.

Buckfield scored 16 runs in the first two innings.

Olivia Roderick had two singles for Mt. Abram. The Roadrunners scored both of their runs in the first inning.

EDWARD LITTLE 17, LEAVITT 3: Maddie Emmert had three hits, drove in three runs batted and scored three runs scored to lead the Red Eddies (2-1) to a win over the Hornets in Turner.

Maddie Scott had four hits, including a double, and drove in a run for Edward Little, while Leah Thibodeau, Izzy Jalbert, Emily Barnhart and Courtney Larson each had two hits. Red Eddies pitcher Hannah Smith struck out six and allowed five hits in the win.

Maddie Welch had two hits and two RBIs for Leavitt.

HALL-DALE 15, ST. DOMINIC 1: Rita Benoit had two hits, including a triple, to help lead the Bulldogs to a five-inning win over the Saints in Auburn.

Emma Soule and Sammy Thornton each had doubles for Hall-Dale (2-0). Benoit, Thornton, Sarah Benner, Lilly Platt, Tanley Tibbetts and Ashlynn Donahue each had two hits for the Bulldogs.

St. Dom’s falls to 0-1.

MONMOUTH 14, DIRIGO 2: Brooklyn Federico had two singles and two RBIs and also earned the win in the circle as the Mustangs won in Monmouth.

Abby Flanagan added a double, two singles and an RBI for Monmouth (4-1), while Katie Laliberte had two singles and three RBIs.

OXFORD HILLS 16, MT. BLUE 2: Bella DeVivo hit two home runs as the Vikings (2-0) defeated the Cougars (0-3) in Farmington.

Also taking a trip around the bases for Oxford Hills were Miah Gallan, Kaydence Morse and Trinity Bernard. Kiara McLeod and Kait Montelongo each hit a double.

McLeod pitched for Oxford Hills and only allowed four hits while striking out two batters.

Alyssa Simoneau, Kiki Daggett and Eva Stevens each had singles for Mt. Blue.

GIRLS LACROSSE
GREELY 21, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/POLAND 2: Elsa Dean-Muncie scored six goals and had three assists to lead the Rangers (2-0) over the Patriots (1-2) at Gray.

Samantha Goldburg had five goals and two assists, Charlotte Taylor tossed in four goals, and Carley Ferentz chipped in three assists.

Andrea Smith and Tiffany Ha scored for Gray-New Gloucester/Poland.

Mackenzie Baston stopped 14 shots for the Patriots, and Addyson Babcock had a pair of saves for the Rangers.

WAYNFLETE 14, ST. DOMINIC 3: CeCe Bliss and Jackie Connors each had a hat trick as the Flyers (2-1) topped the Saints (0-1) at Portland.

Kilee Sherry and Claire Dinapoli added two goals apiece for Waynflete.

Emily Wallingford had a pair of goals for St. Dominic, and Gisele Ouellette also scored.

Emily Girard stopped five shots for the Flyers.

YOUTH HOCKEY
MAINE NORDIQUES ACADEMY 4 ROCKY MOUNTAIN 2: Aiden Westin and Kadsen Johnson each had a goal and an assist to lead the Nordiques (1-0) past the RoughRiders (0-1) in pool play of the Tier I 18U USA Hockey Nationals in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

Clay Allen and University of Vermont commit Jack Kurrle also potted a goal for the Nordiques, while Army commit Ansel Holt made 37 saves in the win.

Liam Cox Smith scored a goal for Rocky Mountain.
