TOPSHAM — Edward Little broke a tie with a four-run seventh inning and notched a 6-2 softball win on the road against Mt. Ararat on Friday.

Hannah Smith hit a two-out single in the Red Eddies’ (3-3) big inning, then scored her third run of the game on an error. McKenzi Horton’s second RBI single completed the scoring.

Maddy Scott allowed three hits and struck out eight for Edward Little.

Gabby West and Bre Hunter had RBI singles in the sixth inning for Mt. Ararat (1-3).

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 14, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Madison Pelletier pitched a two-hitter, and Maisie Lerette and Morgan Curtis each had four hits and three RBI to lead the Patriots (5-1) past the Seagulls (0-6) in Gray.

Lerette collected a home run, a double and two singles, while Curtis had a double and three singles. Heather Nevells doubled and drove in two runs.

HALL-DALE 12, OAK HILL 0, 5 innings: Rita Benoit tossed a no-hitter, striking out 10 batters while walking one, as the Bulldogs cruised to a victory over the Raiders in Farmingdale.

Benoit also had three hits at the plate, including a double. Sarah Benner also contributed three hits and Zoe Soule had two doubles for Hall-Dale (6-0).

Oak Hill falls to 1-2.

MESSALONSKEE 19, MT. BLUE 2: Brooke Martin hit two home runs and finished with four hits as the Eagles rolled to the KVAC victory in Oakland.

Winning pitcher Kate Douglass also homered for Messalonskee, while Maddy Card had three hits. Kierra Bumford, Kristen Dube each added two hits for the Eagles.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 7, DIRIGO 4: Leah Burgess smacked three singles and drove in three runs in the Phoenix’s victory over the Cougars.

Abby Ortiz had two singles in two RBIs for Spruce Mountain (1-2). Pitcher Hannah Turcotte struck out 13 and walked two to pick up the victory.

Alexa Perreault had two hits for Dirigo (1-4).

BASEBALL
DIRIGO 10, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: Charlie Houghton pitched a three-hitter and struck out 12 batters for the Cougars in their win over the Phoenix in Dixfield.

Trent Hutchinson doubled and drove in three runs, and Jason York had a two-run single for Dirigo.

Issac Parker and Jack Gilbert each had a double for Spruce Mountain.

EDWARD LITTLE 9, MT. ARARAT 4: Jack Keefe had two doubles and three RBI in the Red Eddies’ (5-1) victory over the Eagles (1-4) in Topsham.

Kamden Masselli added a triple and two RBI, while Chase Martin had a double and two RBI.

Campbell Cassidy picked up the win and Parker Anthoine notched a save. Anthoine also had two hits.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1: Dylan Henry singled to lead off the bottom of the sixth and scored the go-ahead run on a double play as the Patriots (2-5) edged the Seagulls (4-4) in Gray.

Conner Saunders singled home Ben Wildes to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Old Orchard Beach tied it in the fourth when Andrew Charron singled and eventually scored on a groundout.

OAK HILL 5, HALL-DALE 4: Sam Lindsay drove in two runs to help the Raiders take down the Bulldogs in Wales.

Ethan Vattaso went six innings on the mound for Oak Hill, striking out 11. Kyle Delano came in relief and earned the win.

Max Byron had a hit and scored two runs for Hall-Dale. He also pitched five innings, striking out six in a no-decision.

TELSTAR 13, CARRABEC 3: Winning pitcher Cain Shatzer had 11 strikeouts and scattered three hits to lead the Rebels to a victory in Bethel.

Cameron Palmer had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs for Telstar. Bode Leach had a double and a single for Rebels (3-4).

Luke Carey, Trenton Smith and William Lawrence each singled for Carrebec (1-4).

LISBON 17, MT. ABRAM 3: Pitcher Erica Hill fanned eight and held the Roadrunners (0-4) to two hits in the Greyhounds’ (1-1) five-inning victory at Salem.

Lisbon gained a cushion with a four-run second that turned a 3-2 lead into a 7-2 advantage. The Greyhounds then added three more runs in the third and seven in the fourth. Sophie Malloy had a triple and Marina Davis contributed three singles for the Greyhounds.

Mt. Abram pitcher Riley Monahan struck out five batters. Adrianna and Emily Marden each had a single.
