OTISFIELD — Eight months after beginning its application process, Verizon Wireless, Inc. has cleared another hurdle in its bid to build a communications tower in Otisfield.

These maps show current cell phone coverage areas of Otisfield and the increased reception that a proposed Verizon Wireless oommunications tower would bring to the town.

Planning Board Chair Karen Turino presented her findings of fact package to the other members of the board at Tuesday night’s meeting. Board members had reviewed copies of the package ahead of the meeting.

There was no public comment on the project, nor further input from Verizon.

Neither the board nor Code Enforcement Officer Fred Collins voiced any concerns with the application or the conditional approval passed at the last meeting on April 15. Verizon is expected to respond in writing as to its ability to meet those conditions. The project will then be reviewed by Otisfield’s Board of Selectmen.

The finding of fact was approved unanimously, with Vice Chair Rick Jackson abstaining.

Verizon will construct the tower on leased property at 264 Bell Hill Road.

The next planning board meeting is scheduled for June 1, at the Otisfield Community Hall.
