High Peaks Saddleback & L.L. Bean Hiking Series

Nestled in the northwestern mountains of Maine, Saddleback Mountain is introducing two exciting hiking series this summer. “Western Maine Hikes with Saddleback Mountain Guides” is a weekly hiking series for enthusiasts of all abilities to explore the natural splendors of the region. This is a family-friendly series and is no charge to register thanks to L.L. Bean.
“Summit the High Peaks of Maine” is a more advanced hiking series offered by Saddleback Mountain Guides for only $15 per person. These challenging hikes meander along bubbling brooks and climb to the boreal forests to reach spectacular views of outstretched clear lakes and 360-degree views of mountainous skyline. Saddleback Mountain Guides will lead the trek into our wild corner of Maine, sharing a locals’ take on the vast wildlife and topography. These hikes are scheduled for every Sunday through August. July 3- Piazza Rock: Rt. 4 Out and Back.
Distance: 1.9 Miles each way, Total: 3.8 Miles. Elevation: Total Ascend 590.2 ft.
Duration: Roughly 3 hours

July 10- Bald Mountain Trail: Out and Back.
Distance: 1.1 Miles each way, Total: 2.2 Miles. Elevation: Roughly Ascend 931 ft.
Duration: 2 hours.

July 17- Perham Stream Birding Trail: Loop.
Distance: Roughly 2.5 Miles multiple trails can be made into a loop.

July 24- Cascade Stream Gorge: Loop.
Distance: 1 Mile loop.
Elevation: TBD
Duration: 1 Hour.

July 31- Cranberry peak Trail: Out and Back.
Distance: 2.6 Miles each Way, Total: 5.2 Miles. Elevation: Total Ascend 2,015 ft.
Duration: Roughly 4 Hours.

August 7- Long Pond and Sabbath Day Pond: Rt. 17 Out and Back.
Distance: 3.7 Miles each way, Total: 7.4 Miles.
Elevation: Total Ascend 865.8 ft.
Duration: Roughly 5.5 hours.

August 14- Mount Abraham Trail: Out and Back. 4,000 footer!!
Distance: 4.3 Miles each Way, Total: 8.6 Miles. Elevation: Total Ascend 2,877 ft.
Duration: Roughly 4 Hours.

August 21- Little Bigelow Mountain: Out and Back.
Distance: 3.5 Miles each way, Total: 7 Miles. Elevation: Roughly Ascend 1865 ft.
Duration: 5 to 5.5 Hours.

August 28- Mountain Pond Trail: Out and Back.
Distance: 1.5 Miles each way, Total: 3 Miles. Elevation: Roughly Ascend 679 ft.
Duration: 2.5 Hours.

September 4- Berry Picker Trail: Out and Back or Up and Over.
Distance: 3 Miles each way, Total: 6 Miles.
Elevation: Roughly Ascend 1794 ft. from parking to merging with AT.
Duration: Roughly 4 hours, longer depending on decision made at merging with AT, could summit Saddleback or the Horn, or could turn around.

September 11- Diamond Peaks Trail: Out and Back.
Distance: 3.2 Miles each way, Total: 6.4 Miles. Elevation: Roughly Ascend 971 ft.
Duration: 5 Hours.

September 18- South Bog Trail: Out and Back.
Distance: 2.5 Miles each way, Total: 5 Miles. Elevation: Roughly Ascend 212 ft.
Duration: 4 Hours.

September 25- Saddleback and the Horn via Saddleback resort: Out and Back. 4,000 ft. x2

Summit the High Peaks of Maine with Saddleback Mountain Guides

Overview: Maine is home to thirteen 4,000 ft peaks; Saddleback Mountain Guides are lucky enough to be nestled right in the heart of the county containing 10 of these peaks. Come meet up with other likeminded hikers who wish to complete these 10 peaks. Let Saddleback Mountain Guides do all the trip planning and organizing to get you to the top of one or more of these high peaks to enjoy the sense of accomplishment and beauty found in the mountains. These hikes are very challenging and arduous need to be competent hikers with physical stamina.

July 11- Sugarloaf Mountain and Spaulding Mountain- Parking on Caribou Pond Rd. Access the AT south bound for a out and back up the backside of Sugarloaf over to Spaulding and back down.
Distance: 4.9 Miles each way for a Total of 9.8 Miles.

July 18- Mt. Abraham- Parking at Fire Wardens parking lot for Mt. Abraham it’s a single trail to thetth summit and reverse back to the cars.
Distance: 3.9 Miles each way for a Total of 7.8 Miles.

July 25- The Horn- Parking at the Berry Picker Trail Head, hike the Berry picker trail until it merges with the AT and hike North Bound on the AT to the summit of the Horn. Reverse this hike back to the cars.
Distance: 4.1 Miles each way for a Total of 8.2 Miles.

August 1- West Peak and Avery Peak- Access both West Peak and Avery via the Fire Wardens Trail and parking on Stratton Pond Rd.
Distance: 4.8 Miles each way for a Total of 9.6 Miles.

August 8- South Crocker and Redington Mountain- Access the AT North bound on Caribou pond Rd. and hike to the summit of South Crocker Mountain, then continuing down a flagged trail to the summit of Redington Mountain before following a series of flagged trees and logging roads back to caribou pond rd and the parking area. Loop Trail
Distance: 9 Miles total.

August 15- North Crocker- Parking for North Crocker Mountain is on Rt. 27 at the AT crossing and guests will head South Bound with their guide to the summit of North Crocker Mountain, a tree covered 4,000 ft peak with a few small views.
Distance: 5.2 Miles each way for a total of 10.4 Miles.

August 22- Saddleback Mountain- Parking at the Berry picker Trail head hike the berry picker trail until it merges with the AT and head South to the summit of Saddleback. Reverse this process back to the cars.
Distance: 3.6 Miles each way for a Total of 7.2 Miles.
