UPDATE: Virginia Slicer has been found safe. 

Oxford police on Friday issued a Silver Alert for an Oxford woman with dementia who was believed to be heading toward Newport.

Police described Virginia Slicer, 70,  as a white woman roughly f5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds. She has blue eyes and gray hair, police said.

Slicer was said to be driving a brown Nissan Altima, with Maine plate 9793TH. She was last seen in the Dover-Foxcroft area about 4 p.m., police said, and may be trying to get to Newport.

Slicer has early-onset dementia, police said, and may appear confused.
