Wednesday will be a hot and humid day in Maine with the potential for severe thunderstorms in the evening.

Wednesday’s weather will feel more like a hot day in mid-July rather than late May.

Most inland communities have a pretty good shot at reaching 90 degrees with a stiff southwesterly wind.

Southern, coastal Maine should stay in the 80s while mid-coast Maine will have a hard time getting out of the 70s.

The bigger story Wednesday will be the thunderstorm threat. It’s looking like most of the action will be during the evening hours in southern and central Maine.

Some storms may become severe with damaging winds and hail. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out either.

The threat for thunderstorms will come to an end late Wednesday night.

Drier air will arrive on a northwesterly wind Thursday. Temperatures will be cooler late week and through the weekend.
