Constance E. Cooper
SOUTH PARIS – Constance E. Cooper, 96, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2021 at Market Square Health Care Center. She was born July 2, 1924, in Buckfield, the daughter of Charles Cooper and Cora Mae (McKinney) Cooper. Connie attended the one-room schoolhouse located next to the dairy farm where she and younger brother Kenneth grew up. She graduated from Buckfield High School in 1942 and went on to the University of Maine, Orono, graduating with a bachelors degree in home economics. Then on to Cornell University for her masters. Her first job was a couple of years in New Foundland. Upon returning home she found her next job with the United Nations in Iraq, working with women and families. After Iraq, it was back to Maine working for the Cooperative Extension for several years. In the early 1960’s she was working through the United Nations, this time in Nigeria. By 1970 Connie had settled in Rhode Island as Professor of Human Development at the University of Rhode Island and eventually retired Professor Emeritus.
Connie was predeceased by her parents; brother, Kenneth; and sister-in-law, Julia.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Chris Cooper (Sue), Cheryl Gammon (James), Charlene Cooper, Colleen Cooper, Kathleen Cooper, Kendall Cooper (Lisa), and Kevin Cooper (Lisa); plus many grand nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on July 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Damon Cemetery in Buckfield.
