Anita (LePage) Brown

MYSTIC, Conn. – Anita (LePage) Brown of Mystic, Conn., entered heaven’s gates peacefully, on Saturday May 29, 2021.

Born in Lewiston, Maine, to Alice and Ernest LePage she later moved to Connecticut with her husband where they raised four children in Stonington. She was the loving wife of William “Bill” Brown for almost 57 years.

She had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of St. Mary Church in the Stonington Borough. She never missed a Sunday, later in life enjoying going with her best friends, Phebe and Roland Gonthier, followed by blueberry pancakes and mimosas.

Anita enjoyed skiing, music, dancing, cooking delicious meals, categorizing hundreds of recipes in tins, happy to share with anyone who asked. She loved baking. Famous for her fresh strawberry short cake, she truly believed there was a “separate compartment” for dessert. Dinner on the patio on Wheeler Road was something shared and enjoyed by many. There was always enough!

Anita was a member of the Junior Women’s Club where she met many life-long friends. Anita pursued a degree in accounting and started her career with Metropolitan Life and later retired from Mystech Associates where she was the administrator of the company’s employee stock ownership plan.

Anita and Bill enjoyed music, cards, gardening and traveling to Hawaii, Europe, cruising many islands and frequent trips to Florida to visit their family and friends.

Anita enjoyed music and dancing, from French Canadian fiddling music to musicals like the “Sound of Music”. Her motto was “One Day at a Time” whether she herself was enduring a challenge or her children were asking for advice. She was an amazing listener, friend and the life of the party … to the end. She enjoyed frequent trips to Maine whether it was skiing or visiting the family camp on Little Sebago there were always relatives and a celebration going on. In more recent years, Anita could be found walking the halls of Stoneridge and would always take the time to stop, hold hands or give a warm hug. She was the epitome of grace and kindness and was known for her trademark laugh.

Along with her husband, she was pre-deceased by her brothers, Edward, Ernest and Normand of Maine and her sister, JoAnn Burkitt of New Jersey.

She is survived by one sister, Connie Beaudoin (and Connie’s husband Marcel) of Lisbon, Maine.

Anita leaves behind four children, Dr. Linda Botello and her husband, Christopher, of Hingham, Mass., Douglas Brown and his wife, Susan, of Barrington, R.I., Karen Conrad and her husband, Mark, of Palm Beach, Fla., and Kathy Brown of Stonington, Conn., and her partner, Darlene, of West Springfield, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Christopher (CJ) and wife Chiara, Michael, Nicolas, Mark and Matthew Botello, Sophia Brown, and Samantha Conrad; and one great-granddaughter, Caroline (Michael’s daughter).

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 10, in Lewiston, Maine, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter’s Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. A celebration of life will take place in southeastern Connecticut, later this summer (date TBD). The family will put a notice in the New London Day.
