Barbara A. Jordan

POLAND – Barbara A. Jordan of Poland passed away unexpectedly due to complications from surgery on June 2, 2021, at the age of 83. She was the daughter of Ernest W. and Alice E. Lachance. She married Reginald (Bud) Jordan on Oct. 19, 1953. They shared 68 years together. She worked for the Poland Community School for 28 years as a cook for the school nutrition program, and always enjoyed the children she served. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved life, and all the people she came in contact with along the way. She loved engaging in conversation with everyone she met, whether it was a longtime friend or a complete stranger, always interested in whatever that conversation would lead to, always making new friends along the way. She was a homemaker for many years and enjoyed sewing clothes for her children when they were young. She loved to cook and bake for her family and was always giving her baked goods to those people she knew would enjoy them. She collected cookbooks and had many in her collection. She loved going to yard sales and collecting many treasures along her way. She enjoyed reading, country western music and going to music festivals. She loved going to their camp in Rangeley in the warmer months and loved family gatherings. She was outspoken; if she had something to say she said it, even if you didn’t always agree, you knew where she stood on it.

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her little dog Misty.

She is survived by her husband Bud and her children, Mark and Pat of Tonapah, Ariz., Judy Akers of Poland, Larry and Jan of Poland, Pamela and Ernie Dicicco of Gray and Penny and Steve Thomas of Madison, N.H.; grandchildren, Joshua and Casey Dyer, Amy and Melissa Akers, Jennifer Taylor, Tyson Jordan, Tiffany Theriault and Chelsey Banville; as well as 13 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Ernest Lachance; eight brothers and sisters, Linwood, Russell, Robert, Donald and William Lachance, Alma Leonardos, Marion Parlee and Priscilla Heath; granddaughters, Sonya Dyer, Megan Jordan and Mandy Jordan.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the good care Barbara received.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 11:30 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Poland.
