Carmen Y. Bussiere

LEWISTON – Carmen Y. Bussiere, 94, formerly of Pettingill Street, Lewiston, died Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the Montello Heights in Lewiston, where she had been a resident for the past 10 years. She was loved by staff and residents and known for her fun-loving spirit and her smile.

Born in Lewiston on Dec. 23, 1926, she was the daughter of Emery and Emelda Verville Chaput. Educated locally, she was a graduate of the Acme Business School. On June 12, 1948, she married the love of her life, Gerald J. Bussiere. Mr. Bussiere passed away on May 7, 2011.

She was a dedicated homemaker, wife, and mother, an excellent seamstress and knitter, enjoyed crafts, and was well known to family and friends on Pettingill Street for her baking and cake decorating skills.

A member of Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by two daughters, Irene and husband Victor Gaudreau of Lewiston, and Joline and husband Tom Persico of Portland, a son, Denis Bussiere of Auburn; three grandchildren, Austin Albert and wife Leigh, Ashley Albert, and Gena Bosshart and husband Ed; and five great-grandchildren, Josephine, Wren, Avery, Abigail, and Gwendolyn.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Julie Gosselin.

Visitation will be held at the Albert and Burpee Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Lower Church of Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica at 11 a.m. Entombment, St. Peter’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
