NORWAY — A rash of car burglaries on June 1 was quickly solved when two juveniles from Lewiston were charged with the crimes. The suspects had taken a family vehicle without permission and driven to Norway where they stole personal property, including firearms, from unlocked vehicles parked in downtown neighborhoods. The pair was caught on surveillance video.

The juveniles were in possession of stolen property when they were taken into custody and one of them was already on probation for similar offenses. One of the firearms was recovered (https://www.sunjournal.com/2021/06/02/norway-police-urge-residents-to-lock-vehicles-following-rash-of-thefts/) by Norway’s K-9 team, Officer John Lewis and K9 BOLO the next day. The second gun has not yet been found.

The vehicle was returned to the owner by police, the mother of one of the juveniles. According to Norway Police Chief Robert Federico, the mother was supportive of her child being charged in the thefts.
