DEAR SUN SPOTS: I saw on Channel 8 news on Monday, May 31, that the Sun Journal is moving to Portland. Was the building sold? What was the reason for the move? Will I still write to you at the Sun Spots address? I need more information please. Thank you. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: Only the printing operation of the paper has been moved to South Portland for fiscal reasons and because the Lewiston press equipment was aging. The newsroom, advertising, circulation and customer service employees will continue on in the Lewiston building at 104 Park St. You can still reach Sun Spots at the same address.

The Sun Journal and its predecessors have been printing the paper at 104 Park St. for 125 years, though roots go back to 1847, so it was a sad day when it stopped. The press area in Lewiston is now a circulation depot for Sun Journal carriers, with bundles delivered from South Portland.

Rest easy, this change does not affect Sun Spots or the Sun Journal’s service to its many wonderful customers.
