PORTLAND — A virtual gathering for those curious about prison ministry, have served or currently serve in the ministry, or have an interest in getting involved, is to be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 17.
The event will feature speaker Fr. Dustin Feddon of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, Florida. Feddon is an experienced chaplain at a Florida state prison and executive director of Joseph House, which serves people re-entering the community. He is also pastor of two Florida parishes and a speaker for the Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition.
Parish Social Ministry supports the work of jail and prison ministries from parishes across the diocese. Each month, more than 125 parishioners journey to more than 600 inmates in Maine’s correctional facilities.
Those who wish to attend can email Deacon Frank Daggett, director of Catholic Charities Maine’s Parish Social Ministry, at [email protected].
For more information about what is being done in one’s parish community or what opportunities exist for volunteering, contact Catholic Charities Parish Social Ministry at [email protected] or 207-523-2772.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
