Sherrell A. “Sherry” Kane
CASCO – Sherrell A. “Sherry” Kane, 76, of Casco, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 as she wanted, in the comfort of her own home, and in the company of her daughter Barbara.
Sherry was born on Feb. 8, 1945, in Naples, a daughter of Robert R. and Dorothy P. (Sargent) Lorrain, and attended local schools.
Throughout her life she worked at various jobs, including Point Sebago and most recently Reinhard’s Greenhouse, where she enjoyed the privilege of working with her family and friends. Her career however, was that of a loving mother and homemaker.
Her greatest love was that of the company of her grandchildren. She cherished every second with them, bonding through activities such as baking and playing trivia games. She also had an adoration for family outings, which sometimes included questionable paddle boat races, and a once in a lifetime Park & Ride Adventure. One of her favorite places to go with her loved ones was Snow Falls, a beautiful area with a scenic waterfall.
She had a strong passion for various animals, and had many dogs over the years as pivotal members of her family. From Tubby, to Pleaser and Skippy, to her most beloved dog, “Emily Rose.” She also enjoyed watching birds in her sanctuary, and owls on livestream. As she would tell everyone, she got the opportunity to choose a name for a newborn owl, and she chose the name “Grace.” She was also extremely fond of giraffes, having followed a constant livestream on her computer of her favorite giraffe named “April.” There was a strong Giraffe theme noticeably scattered throughout her home.
Sherry is loved and survived by her children, Barbara Vaughn and her husband Kevin of Casco, Debra Chaplin and her husband Charlie of Naples, Patricia Herbert and her husband George of Limerick, Robert Swift and his wife Jana of Gorham, and Michelle Dunn of Oxford; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kelli, Jake, Bobby, Josh, Rion, Logan, Sammie, AJ, and Miranda; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, Richard Lorrain and his wife Joan of California, Lucerne Knight of Bridgton, and Bonnie Bean and her husband Bob of Casco. She was predeceased by husbands, William Kane and Clarence Swift; a daughter, Cindy Reichert; and siblings, Meredith, Allen, Wayne, and Dennis.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. A live stream of the service may be found by using the link on her obituary page of http://www.hallfuneralhome.net.
