Roger J. Fournier

MEXICO – Roger J. Fournier, 89, of Mexico passed away June 8, 2021 in Lewiston with his loving family by his side.

Roger, known to many as “Bib”, was born in Rumford to Alfred and Marie (Maillett) Fournier on Jan. 14, 1932. He attended Mexico High School and graduated in 1949. He married Marilyn Richard on Sept. 28, 1956 in Rumford. He worked as a papermaker at the Rumford Paper Mill for 35 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War in the Army and was awarded the paratrooper badge. Roger was a volunteer member of the Black Mountain Ski Meet Operations Team.

He was an avid outdoor sportsman and loved the game of golf. He enjoyed many other things, among them crossword puzzles, photography, going to the casino and meeting friends at McDonald’s

Roger was predeceased by his wife and parents, his brothers, Robert and Ronald Fournier and sister, Rita Ricasoli.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina (Tom) Callahan; son, Peter (Kim) Fournier; grandchildren, Sean (Laura) and Scott Callahan, Michael, Tessa, and Samuel Fournier and great-grandson, Owen Callahan.

The family would like to thank Dot Benedix for her companionship, Richard and Jan McKenna for check-ins and all community members who lent him a hand.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, June 21, at 10 a.m., at St. Athanasius and St. John Church Rumford. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery at a later date.
