REGION — At last week’s meeting, Superintendent Dave Murphy provided board members with an update on the district’s Summer Feeding Program, which started June 21. Meals will be delivered and available for pickup. Murphy also said they have been able to supplement the program with a $10,000 grant that the district received through the Full Plates Program.
“We’re going to continue to submit additional grant applications to them,” Murphy said. “I don’t anticipate that it is going to cost our local budget anything out of this. We’re going to be funding the program through grants.”
In other news Murphy said that Janice Bachelder has been appointed as a school bus driver and that another potential person could be in line as a bus driver as well.
Also during the meeting, in her Region 9 report, SAD 44 representative Roberta Taylor said that both the school’s secondary and adult education budgets passed at a May meeting.
Also in the Region 9 report, representative Norm Clanton said directors have been developing a proposal for a plumbing program at the school. The program would not be ready for this year but could be by next year, according to Clanton. He added that there is a demand for plumbers currently and that if a program were to be introduced at the school it would be “very popular.”
