Rich Young. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1975. She and her ex-husband, Gunnar Olson Jr. had one son, Nathan.Jill began her working career at the age of 14 at Fairlawn Golf Course, where she learned to play and grew to love the game of golf. Always a hard worker, Jill’s employment continued at Twin Cities Printery in Lewiston, followed by her career as a pharmacy technician at LaVerdieres and Rite Aid. She was very proud and highly respected of her long-term career in the pharmacy field. In her younger years, Jill enjoyed playing baseball and softball. Her greatest thrill was whipping her sisters on the sleigh behind the family snowmobile. She enjoyed many forms of freshwater fishing on various Maine lakes and ponds. She particularly enjoyed trips up north that included trout fishing with her mom and dad at Grace Pond and Pierce Pond. She learned to be handy from her Dad, and loved planting flowers with her Mom. She enjoyed nature walks, as well as birdwatching: visits from the cardinals were precious to her.Jill loved cooking, particularly Thanksgiving dinners for her sisters and their families. She also liked a good game of poker; she was a tough competitor in a multitude of card games. Trips to the ocean with her sisters and her friend, Ray, that inevitably ended with a huge lobster dinner, were also very special to her.Of utmost importance to Jill, was her one and only son, Nathan. She enjoyed the many hours watching him play baseball from elementary school through college. She took great pride in the many awards he received and his many other accomplishments. She cherished the times she was able to spend with him, his wife Emily, and their three children: Eliza, Jameson, and Grace. Known as “Nana” to her grandkids, she looked forward to their yearly visits to Maine every summer. Her dog, Trooper, also gave her great comfort and joy. He was often found sitting on her lap like a toddler on his mother’s knee.Throughout her life, she enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, boating, and Red Sox games. Jill was a big fan of baseball and especially loved the Red Sox. She was grateful for the simple things in life and enjoyed the many happy celebrations, especially the birthday celebrations for each sister’s birthday, which always included cake and her personal favorite, vanilla ice cream.
