Linda J. Woodard
TAMPA, Fla. – Linda Jane Woodard passed away peacefully at her family’s home in Tampa, Fla. on June 10, 2021, after a short but hard-fought battle against cancer.
She was born in Lewiston on July 6, 1938. Following graduation from Edward Little High School in 1956, she immediately joined and served four years in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps.
Upon discharge she returned home and worked for New England Tel & Tel (AT&T) for the next 30 years, starting as an operator but then opening positions formerly closed to women. During this time, she was also the first woman elected to the Lisbon Board of Selectmen. Retiring in 1990, she relocated to Tampa, Fla.
She will be fondly remembered as having a strong and independent spirit with a fierce loyalty for loved ones, a tender heart for animals and a zest for travel.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Harold and Radelle Woodard; her brother, Lendall, and her infant sister, Jean.
She is survived by her dear friend, Amy Melia; her sister, Laurie (Donald Smith), sister-in-law, Sylvia; nieces Susan (Michael) Poto, Anika Smith and nephews Jon (Cheryl) Woodard, Steven (Michelle) Woodard and Keir Smith; as well as numerous grand and great-grandnieces, nephews and cousins.
