Simone E. Small Hinkley

SABATTUS – Simone E. Small Hinkley passed away June 18, 2021 at home after a long illness.

She was born July 9, 1937, the daughter of the late Estelle Ayote Small and Erwin H. Small. Also, predeceased by her sister, Carmen Salvatore, and a brother, Edward Mercier Jr.

She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1956. She was married 63 years to the love of her life, the late Clarence E. Hinkley Jr. They were married Sept. 22 1956. She was a proud homemaker most of her married life. Also, worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and the cafeteria at Oak Hill High School many years ago.

She was a great seamstress and a wonderful cook. She especially loved to bake. Simone was very involved in the Jacques Cartier Club, Women’s Auxiliary American Legion Post 135, Sabattus, The New Auburn Seniors Club, Auburn and the Sabattus Seniors Club, Sabattus.

She loved so much, her many cousins—-“ Be Happy!!” Thank you to her best friends Helen and Ted Marsh and family, Toni Matthiews and family, Jeanne and Darrell Wentworth.

She is survived by her children Clarence III “Skip” Hinkley and wife Jennifer, Guy Hinkley and wife Stacey, Lee Hinkley and wife Jaynne; grandchildren Jamie Hinkley, Amber Coyne and husband Bjorn, Shelbie Braithwood and husband Andy; great-grandchildren Isabelle, Sophia, Elyse, Jac lynn, Emma and Bradley.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday June 29 at 9 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sabattus.
