NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library is pleased to announce that author Nicole Casper will give an author talk via Zoom Tuesday, July 13, 6:30-7:30 pm, on her book, The Brockton Tragedy of Moosehead Lake.

On May 13, 1928, ten prominent men of Brockton, Massachussetts, headed off on a fishing trip to Moosehead Lake in Maine. After traveling fourteen hours, the group met Maine guide Samuel Budden and boarded the Mac II for the final voyage to their destination. Approximately six miles from the Tomhegan sporting camp; the boat took on water in rough seas and sank, taking Budden and all but one of the adventurers to a watery grave. This book chronicles this tragedy
and its legacy in two New England communities.

Nicole Casper frequently lectures and creates exhibits on Stonehill and local history, co-teaches Stonehill’s Public History Class and mentors students interested in pursuing a career in museums and archives. In addition to her work at Stonehill, she is the co-author of two books with the late James Benson, The Strand Theatre Fire: The 1941 Brockton Tragedy and the Fallen Thirteen and The Brockton Tragedy at Moosehead Lake.
