DEAR SUN SPOTS: The North Waterford Congregational Church will have curbside takeout suppers Tuesday, July 6 and 20. The menu is oven barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread and strawberry shortcake. We will serve from 5 to 6 p.m. The cost is $10. We would like to thank all the people that support our suppers, especially Melby’s Market. We are on Route 35 across from Melby’s. Thank you, Sun Spots! I read your column every day. —

ANSWER: This sounds delicious! I hope your fundraiser is a big success.

DEAER SUN SPOTS: Your reader can call the Farmers’ Almanac customer service line as you suggest to get weather for August. But, there are still copies of the 2021 edition in most Shaw’s and Hannaford stores as well as Dollar General locations. And, if anyone goes to our website www.farmersalmanac.com , they can easily access future weather . Maine is in Zone 1.

What we say: Aug. 4-7: Clearing skies, cooler then turning unsettled. Aug. 8-11: Tropical cyclone threat for coastal states. Otherwise showers.

Hope this helps! — Peter Geiger, editor, Farmers’ Almanac, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would your Rolodex have the names of some reliable handymen who can do some light carpentry and light plumbing, like replacing washers in leaky faucets and nailing down loose steps? I would be ever so grateful! — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: I highly recommend Small Jobs Jim at 751-4317 or Jim@SmallJobsJim.com. You can also find out more information about him at https://jim124.wixsite.com/smalljobshandyman.

I also want to add that if you’re a senior member of the community, don’t hesitate to call SeniorsPlus at 795-4010 and ask for community services. They should be able to help you find just the right person.

Readers, please send me your recommendations, and for those of you who provide these services, feel free to write to me if you want to be included in the ever-growing, ever-changing and improving Rolodex.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I used to go to a local restaurant where there was a yummy sandwich made with gluten-free sprouted grain bread. The restaurant has since closed and I want to recreate the sandwich at home but can’t find the bread in any grocery stores or bakeries. Do you know where I could get it? — Angel, no town

ANSWER: If you’re looking in bakeries and bakery departments at grocery stores, you most likely won’t see it. Try looking in the freezer case of the grocery store or a health food store. Two brands I know of are Food Life and Ezekiel.
