We fooled over a dozen people who incorrectly guessed the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul in Lewiston. They were about a mile off, as last week’s Mystery Photo is the former St. Mary’s Church on the corner of Oxford and Cedar streets in Lewiston that is now home to the Gendron Franco Center. In a random drawing from all the correct entries, Kathy Jacques of Lewiston was picked as the winner of a $20 Hannaford Supermarket gift card. She is a regular guesser, and admitted that at first she was not sure which church it was. “You gave it away with the date,” she said, referring to the “1927.” With that, she went online, did some research and figured it out.
