Scott Morrison give his 150th-lifetime blood donation Tuesday at the Auburn Battle of the Badges at the Hilton Garden Inn. Ronda Martell prepares him for the donation. The Battle of the Badges, an annual blood donation hosted by the Auburn Police and Fire departments, encourages donors to vote for their favorite department. Morrison, a former Lewiston Police Department employee, said, “I have to vote for the cops!” Morrison started donating in 1981 as part of an Eagle Scout project. According to Trace Sauter, the Red Cross account manager for Androscoggin County, the reason most people offer for not giving blood, is that nobody ever asked them. “Well, I’m asking!” Sauter said. The American Red Cross said recently that there is a critical need for blood donations nationwide. People wishing to donate can find the closest site at redcrossblood.org.  Andree Kehn/Sun Journal
