Georgette L. Mathieu

AUBURN – Georgette L. Mathieu, 88, of 41 Pleasant St., Auburn, passed away and entered the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the Clover Manor in Auburn.

Born in Lewiston on Jan. 11, 1933, she was the daughter of William and Maria Pomerleau Martel Sr. Educated in local schools, receiving her GED from Lewiston High School. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Joseph B.M. Mathieu. Joe passed away in 2010. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, she also worked for many years as a dietary aide at Campus Cuisine.

Georgette enjoyed crochet, playing piano, and, in her younger years, was an avid bowler and enjoyed several other active sports. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish. Survivors include two sons, Daniel and wife Diane of Augusta, and Claude and companion Lori Freeman of Lisbon, four daughters, Monita and husband John Bell of Ball Ground, Ga., Diane of Port Richey, Fla., Janet of Lewiston, and Lisa and husband Robert Paquette of Sanford; two brothers, Paul Martel and wife Joline of Lewiston, and William Martel of Lewiston, a sister, Michelle and husband Conrad Robitaille of Lewiston; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and dear family friend, Donna Holt. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Jackie Drapeau, Pearl Martel, and Monique Martel, and a brother, Robert Martel.

Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Sunday, from 2 – 4 p.m. Services will be Monday, 11 a.m., Holy Cross Church. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
