Madeleine Aurore Ducheney

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Madeleine Aurore Ducheney (née Fortier), 99, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, died on June 1, 2021 at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus in Milwaukee. Born December 16, 1921 in Ste. Honore de Chenley, Quebec, Canada to George and Cedulie (Roy) Fortier, she became an American citizen in 1938. Madeleine was married in 1945 to Laurier “Larry” Ducheney who passed away in 1993. She was also predeceased by her infant daughter Mary Ellen Ducheney and 15 brothers and sisters of whom Madeleine was the last of her generation. Madeleine attended Livermore Falls High School and was employed by G.H. Bass in Wilton, Maine for numerous years prior to her retirement in 1986. She also worked with her husband at his business, Larry’s Meat Market, in Wilton during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Madeline moved to Sabattus in 1995 where she was a member of the Lewiston and Sabattus Senior Citizens. Her talents were many, especially as a master seamstress, homemaker, and the center of our family, someone who taught us all the importance of love of family. She greatly enjoyed camping with her children and grandchildren, especially along the coast of Maine and traveling throughout eastern Canada. She is survived by her daughters Celeste (Michael) Gantert of Wisconsin and Laurie (Thomas) Brueckner of New Hampshire; granddaughter Colleen (John) Haley of Virginia; grandson Patrick (Aideen) McKenna of Dublin, Ireland; grandson Michael (Mollie) Gantert of Illinois ; and seven great-grandchildren.
