Fernand J. Cote

LEWISTON – Fernand J. Cote, 94, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Born on June 1, 1927, Fernand, or Fern, as he was known to his family and friends, was married to the former Juliette Labbe for 60 years until her passing in 2014.

A lifelong resident of Lewiston, Fernand worked in the local restaurant and shoe industry and later at L.L. Bean until his retirement. Along with his older brother Bertrand, Fernand was active in the Knights of Columbus. Fernand also loved training horses at the Lewiston Fairgrounds. He enjoyed swing music and dancing with Juliette.

Fernand spent many years caring for Juliette prior to her passing; in later years he spent some winters in Florida with his niece Irene and her husband. Fernand’s family will always treasure his presence at holiday gatherings, where his sense of humor and love of Asian cooking always brought additional joy and fond memories.

Fernand is predeceased by his beloved wife Juliette; his mother Antoinette McCluskey, his father Joseph Cote; his brother Bertand Cote and brothers-in-law Marcel Labbe and Richard Labbe.

Fern leaves behind his sister-in-law Muriel Bureau and her husband Marcel, his sisters-in-law Theresa Labbe and Sylvia Labbe; his sister-in-law Simone Cote; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services honoring Fernand’s life will be celebrated on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A.
