Karen Clarke Bishop

FARMINGTON – We regretfully announce the sudden passing of our mother, Karen Clarke Bishop. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington on July 5, 2021.

Karen was born on August 12, 1944 to Dorothy and David E. Clarke. The eldest of five siblings, Karen graduated from Lewiston High School in June of 1962. She briefly attended Bliss College, where she met her husband, before she went on to be a self-taught homemaker and was blessed with three children of her own.

Karen loved to cook, to read, and she had a great appreciation for art. Over the years, she collected hundreds of cookbooks and dozens of books on art. She loved the outdoors, especially Eustis, Maine, where she spent many years honing her cooking skills and making friends at Kern’s Inn, the Maine Guide Lodge, and her favorite spot, King and Bartlett Hunting Camps.

Karen had an infectious laugh and reveled in being the center of attention by holding court at many a gathering. She had countless friends that she adored. If you were a true friend of Karen’s, you were a friend for life.

Karen was predeceased by both of her parents.

She is survived by her sisters JoAnn and husband Jose, Bonnie and husband Donald, Merry and husband Michael, and her brother, Peter and wife Deb; her three children, David, Tracey and John; as well as many nieces, nephews; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

The last few years had been especially hard on Karen as her health and quality of life were fading. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to all of those who made Karen’s life better for her during this time. She was attended to by some of the most caring and compassionate folks you could meet at the former Auburn Nursing Home, WestSide NeuroRehab Services of Lewiston, Woodlands Memory Care of Lewiston, and most recently Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center of Farmington.

Following Karen’s wishes, no services are planned.
