To the Editor:
When the decision was made many years ago to have Route 26 bypass Norway and continue through to South Paris and points beyond, I think it would be fair to say that has been an economic blow to Norway. I think, over the years, of all the vehicle traffic that never visited downtown Norway and its immediate area because they were traveling on Route 26.
Route 26 and its location relevant to Norway is never going to change. That brings me to “The Lakeside Norway Project.” After reviewing the proposed plan and thinking it through, I am in support of this project. When I think of all the new traffic that will be traveling through Norway, I can’t help but think of the existing businesses that will benefit by the new exposure.
As an older fella I am not so settled in my ways that I don’t realize it’s the younger generation that is going to keep Norway alive for the future. Think it over and lets get behind these younger folks and bring some of that new money to Norway. I still come to Norway and can’t wait to visit the new venue.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
