“Dancing Dragonflies” by Madeline Wikler Submitted photo

Madeline Wikler will be the guest artist from Saturday, July 24, through Friday, Aug. 27. She was a founding member of Gallery 302 and an exhibiting artist for 7 years. For the past 5 years she has taught watercolor classes at the Gallery.

Since 1990 she has pursued a serious interest in and study of watercolor. She has been the recipient of numerous purchase prizes and awards for her watercolors including Art in the Park in Bridgton, the Norway Art Festival, shows in Portland and on the coast. Both the Potomac Valley Watercolorists and the Baltimore Watercolor Society recognize her as a Signature Member.

This year’s exhibit is a departure from her usual style. “It includes a group of paintings in a technique that mimics the look of stained glass or batik. The process involves masking out the white areas with small pieces of ripped painter’s tape, then pouring fluid acrylics overall, and repeating the process until the right values are achieved. Although somewhat tedious and time consuming (think working on a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle) it is both a random and a controlled process, which appeals to both sides of my creative brain.”

Wikler’s work may be viewed daily at Gallery 302 located at 112 Main St., Bridgton. Summer hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, call (207) 647-2787, go to gallery302.com or visit Gallery 302 on Facebook.
