Bertha Kozloski

AUBURN – Bertha Kozloski, 97, of Greene, Maine, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021, at Schooner Estates Memory Care with her loving family at her side. She was born on May 4, 1924, the daughter of the late Mary (Trala) and John Anisko in Philadelphia, Pa. Her parents were both born in Poland and she is the first generation American in her family. On Sept. 26, 1944, she married the love of her life, Frank Kozloski and together they raised their young family of four girls. They were happily married for almost 60 years until Frank passed away on Dec. 15, 2003. They crossed the country with their girls in tow several times as Frank’s career as an aeronautical engineer took him all over the country. While Frank worked tirelessly for NASA and Boeing, Betha spent most of her time taking care of their four girls, always prepared for their next move across the country. In the later years, they settled down in Wilmington, Delaware and she went to work for the Delaware State Hospital for about 10 years until both she and Frank retired and moved to Maine where two of their daughters lived. They had a beautiful home on Middle Range Pond in Poland which they thoroughly enjoyed until Frank suffered a serious stroke. They then moved to Lewiston and for 19 more years, Bertha dedicated herself to the care of her husband until his death in 2003. In 2004, she moved to Greene, to live with her daughter Lorraine and son-in-law Roger Theriault. This was a blessing to all concerned and lasted until about two months ago when her physical condition and struggle with Dementia dictated a move to Schooner Estates Memory Care for the final two months of her life. Bertha was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Holy Family Church. She was an expert in needlework, producing countless beautiful creations. She enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends and her scrabble rivalry with her son in law Louis. Bertha enjoyed her visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them all dearly. Their visits these past few months were incredibly meaningful to her in her last days.
Bertha is survived by her four daughters: Christine Barnett and husband Larry of Silverdale, Washington, Linda Mazzone and husband Jim of Santa Clara, Calif., Caryle Janicki and husband Louis of Brewer, Maine, Lorraine Theriault and husband Roger of Greene, Maine, nine grandchildren: Jim, Jeff and Greg Barnett, Ryan and Thomas Janicki, Adam and Nicholas Theriault, Maria Guay, Danielle Martin and 19 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Kozloski in 2003, her grandson, Daniel Barnett, her brother, Joseph Anisko, her brothers-in-law: John Kozloski and wife Fro, Tony Kozloski and wife Helen and sister-in-law, Stella Miroslaw and two special nephews: Andy and Ed Miroslaw.
