Dorothy E. Allen

AUBURN – Dorothy E. Allen, 93, of Auburn, passed away after a short illness on Monday, July 19, 2021.Born in Jay, Maine, on Dec. 13, 1927, the second child of Warren and Leah Lawrence. Dorothy was a graduate of Edward Little High School in 1946. Dorothy married Rudy Allen in Hauppauge, N.Y., on Aug. 1, 1953. She recalled many happy memories of their time spent living on Long Island, N.Y.Dotty and Rudy moved back to Maine in 1959, residing in a home near her beloved parents and brother, where she remained until her passing. Aunt Dotty was our family historian, sharing many cherished memories, often speaking fondly of her summers spent with her cousins in Jay. She traveled near and far with Rudy searching for antique cars, especially Chryslers. She recounted many adventures while riding with Rudy on their Harley Davidson, and she never lost her love for motorcycles. Her hobbies included jewelry making, refinishing antique furniture and shopping! She loved spending time at the seashore with her family. Aunt Dotty was a devoted Christian who shared her faith and love of God with her four nieces.Dotty is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Lawrence, her nieces Katherine Hatfield and husband, Alan, June Daigle and husband, Kenneth Sr., Brenda Hinkley and husband, Randy and Janet Morissette and her husband, Leo. Step grandchildren, Carl Hebert and wife, Beth, Maurice Hebert and wife, Priscilla and Dianna Nash and husband, Charles. Five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Rudy, stepdaughter, Linda, her parents and brothers, baby Warren and Merwyn. Dorothy’s family would like to thank Helping Hands and Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care of our beloved Aunt Dotty. Using our sweet Aunt Dotty’s favorite phrase, “Leave it in God’s hands, dear”. We now leave you in God’s loving hands. Graveside services honoring Dorothy’s life will be celebrated on Monday, July 26, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. There will not be any visitation.
