To the Editor:
The state of our workforce is in deep trouble. Have you ever seen so many help wanted signs on business fronts? Restaurants, retail businesses, manufacturing businesses…it’s endless.
The sad truth is that there are so many able bodied people who could easily fill these positions, but for as long as the President is paying them an incentive to stay home, they’ll never get filled.
The one place that should have a help wanted sign is the front lawn of the White House. But that’s because of the ineptness of the current resident not because of lack of interest.
Our President was on television some weeks back proclaiming that the lackluster jobs report “was not” because of the employment incentive currently being doled out. Who’s the lying dog faced pony soldier now Joe?

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
