To the Editor:

My name is Roxy Kai-Petrovich I’m a volunteer leader with Maine People’s Alliance. On the evening of Thursday, August 5, Maine People’s Alliance and The Gem Theater in Bethel are hosting a community conversation and screening of “Lead with Love”, a documentary series launched by Maine Beacon following three women who tell their story of how opioids and substance use affected their lives.

Their experiences are not unlike the stories of so many others in Maine and across the country.

In 2020, 93,000 people died of overdoses in the United States. 504 were Mainers. As a community we need to spread awareness and bring change to our currently failing system to address this crisis. 504 isn’t just a number: these are family members, friends, and neighbors. The time is now to follow successful compassionate care models, Lead with Love, and help Maine Families.

Please join us on August 5 at the Gem Theater. Doors open at 6 p.m., the “Lead with Love” film starts at 7 p.m., followed by a community conversation. Free Pizza will be available at the Theater for those attending. Register with RoxyKP.ME@gmail.com to ensure enough Pizza for everyone. We hope to see you there!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do, if I can answer any questions, and in the process of getting this information out there. Thank you so much for your time.

Roxy Kai-Petrovich
