Stacey and Jim Shaffer of Farmington spend the day Thursday at Kineowatha Park with their son, Sam, 15 months. The Shaffer family frequents Wilson Pond and were excited to be outside after having many rainy days this summer. The family set their blanket up off to the side of the beach that was seemingly busier than a usual Wednesday. Anna Gouveia/Sun Journal

Marliee Cummings of Farmington points to a shiny piece of blue carnival glass tucked away in the garden Thursday at her home off of Mosher Hill Road. When she moved to the home in 2013, Cummings started gardening and she curated a large luscious garden filled with trinkets. When Cummings’ grandchildren come to visit, they play games where they seek out certain trinkets, she said. As of late July, Cummings says 90% of her flowers have already popped, so she’s turned her focus to maintaining her vegetable garden. Anna Gouveia/Sun Journal
