DENMARK — Heather Newton Brown’s “Art Opening Part II” is to be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Denmark Arts Center, 50 West Main St.
“Fun Things to Do with a Blowtorch” focuses on meditative painting and experimentation, sampling the many ways a blow torch can be used to create works of art with encaustic, mixed media, and found items.
This body of work is an invitation to release expectations and engage curiosity, to explore what “is” rather than focus on “what should be.”
The artist has allowed for spontaneity to give space to bend rules and surpass boundaries, exploring new materials and ways to use the artistic space.
The center will be open for reception inside for guests to walk through and speak with the artist. Brown will talk about her work, style, and inspirations and tricky components to using a blow torch.
The center will have light food and beverages available, provided by Hannaford Supermarket-Bridgton.
