DEAR SUN SPOTS: In your response to someone inquiring about how to find an obituary, you stated there are websites that provide information on living and deceased people and listed some for the deceased. I have tried to find sites for living people, but I can’t find any. Would you please provide some? Sun Spots is a must-read. Thank you for all the information you have. — Eloise, Farmington

ANSWER: There are so many! I’ve had good luck finding people, including my childhood pen pal in Iowa, through Facebook. Whitepages.com, classmates.com, intelius.com. instantcheckmate.com, checkpeople.com, peoplesearch.com are all rated as excellent to very good websites to search for people. You can get some free information from these sites or pay a fee, depending on what you need.

If the person you are looking for is local, you can always ask about them here in Sun Spots!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would anyone in Sun Spots Land have a Portland phone book of any year, for a nice gentleman who lives in a nursing home in Falmouth? It would put a big smile on his face. It can be mailed to JR, 49 Ash St., Unit 7163, Lewiston, ME 04243. — Joannie, Lewiston

ANSWER: Stand by for some mail! In the remote chance that you don’t get any, check with the Portland Library. They may have a few in their archives.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the lady who had insulin to donate, I recently contacted Partners for World Health at 774-5555 and they accepted the insulin syringes we had after my mother-in-law died. I hated the thought of almost 100 syringes still wrapped in plastic going to the landfill. They are at 40 Walch Drive in Portland and the hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. You need to call before you drop anything off to see if it will be accepted. I hope this helps and please accept my condolences on the loss of your son. — Denise, no town

ANSWER: It’s good to hear from a reader who has donated to this organization.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am the man who picked up the (free) lawn chairs. My wife and I are very happy to also have the two outside tables to match the set of chairs. We would just like to thank this kind woman and want her to know that we, too, are very meticulous about our home and property so the beautiful chairs and tables will be well kept. We want to thank her for her offerings. — No name, no town

ANSWER: This is in response to the July 28 Sun Spots regarding the offering of free tables to match free lawn chairs. Isn’t it so nice to know that people like this exist in the world?
