AUBURN – Pastor Robert L. Giguere, 89, The faithful husband, fantastic father, precious pastor, excellent educator, gentle lion, faithful warrier, and consummate leader answered the call to go home Friday July 31, 2021 AT 2:20 P. M. where he met his lord and savior Jesus, face to face.He was born in Lewiston, Me. January 24, 1932, The son of Conrad and Irene (Roy) Giguere. Hw was educated in the Lewiston school system. In high school, he was a standout athlete in both ice hockey and football. He also excelled in track and field. He graduated from Lewiston High School, class of 1952 and went on to finish his education at the University of Maine in Orono graduating in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in education. He served in the U. S. Navy for a short time and was honorably discharged. He would start his teaching career in September of 1956 at Jordan Junior High School.He later taught at Montello Junior High School as a health and biology instructor. He retired after 28 years of service. On August 26, 1957 he married Beverly M. Turner.During the summer months he worked on the crews for Central Maine Power Co.In 1975 he received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and there was no turning back. He studied theology at Maryland Bible College and Seminary and was ordained as a minister of the Gospel.In early 1980, the Lord called him to start his own work and in 1991 the congregation broke ground in Greene for a new building where he pastored for many years retiring in 2006. He did missionary work in France, Russia, and Newfoundland.He served as the Chaplain at the Androscoggin County Jail for 36 years where he ministered to hundreds of men and women who had lost their way.He had a wonderfully blessed and full life. He leaves behind his loving wife Bev of almost 64 years, His children Scott, Julie, Jim and wife Janet, Steve, Rick and wife Megan, and three precious grandchildren Julia, Ethan and isabella, sister in Law Carol and a host of church family and friends.He was predeceased by his parents, sister Dorothy and husband Dr. William Hollis and brother Conrad Gerard (Jerry).Visitation is Friday August 6 at Greene Fellowship Church, 9 Bergeron Rd. Greene, Me. 04236 from 9:30-12:00, Homegoing service 12:00-1:00 Private committal services and burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery Lewiston.
