EAST WINTHROP — The Kennebec Land Trust is scheduled to celebrate one of its newest land acquisitions, the 55-acre Weston Woods Preserve in East Winthrop, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12.
The public is invited to celebrate with trust and the land donors, Bob and Jim Weston.
The 55-acre Little Cobbossee Lake preserve was permanently protected by trust last December. Weston Woods includes 1,315 feet of undeveloped shoreline; forested, scrub-shrub, and emergent wetlands; 1,500 feet of perennial streams; and land designated as inland waterfowl and wading bird habitat.
For more information about the dedication, contact the trust at 207-377-2848 or [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
