On Wednesday, September 1st at 6:00 pm, Arnold Lehman, former director of the Brooklyn Museum, will be at the Rangeley Public Library to discuss his book Sensation: The Madonna, the Mayor, the Media, & the First Amendment which is due to come out on September 21st.

In his book, Lehman shares the inside scoop on the political maelstrom that took place in response to the exhibition, “Sensation” in 1999. Featuring pornographic images as well as artwork showing the Madonna with elephant dung on her, the exhibition offended many people, causing a renewed battle over the right to freedom of artistic expression.

Please call the library at 864-5529 or stop by to sign up to be part of the discussion.
