Michael Jay Rice

AUBURN – Michael Jay Rice born on Dec. 1, 1958, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly. Growing up he enjoyed basketball, golf, tennis and played baseball at the Auburn Suburban Little League. Later, playing softball for Webster Engineering. He loved family vacations at the Gramkyn on Bailey Island. He was well-versed in sports, government, politics, music, the history of Auburn, and the people he grew up with. He graduated from ELHS in 1977 and went on to the University of Farmington where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. He worked for years at Benson and Sullivan, General Electric and as a substitute teacher in the Auburn School System. He genuinely cared about his friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Norma J. Rice of North Jay and Kip Rice of Auburn. He was the oldest of four children leaving behind brother, Timothy Jay Rice and his wife Carla McAllister of New Gloucester, Peter Jay Rice and his late wife Debby Rice of Fountain Valley California, Rebecca Jayne Rice of Auburn, Aunt Betty and John Robbins of Bailey Island, niece, Kimberly Smith and her husband Anthony Smith of Auburn, nephews, Nicholas J. Rice and his wife Courtney of Montana, Joseph Dustin of Auburn and great niece, Abigail Bailey Smith.
