Paul G. Girardin

GREENE – Paul G. Girardin, 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at his home. Paul was born Oct. 22, 1935, in Lewiston, Maine. The youngest of three children of William and Alexina (Goudreau) Girardin of Lewiston, Maine.

A longtime resident of Greene, Paul proudly served in the U.S. Army after graduating from Lewiston High School in 1954. He then met his wife of 57 years, Joyce M. (Heald) Girardin and married in 1962. Then working for Hill Mill to Bates Manufacturing for 20-plus years and then to Tri County Mental Health in Lewiston where he became the chief of maintenance until his retirement.

Paul spent many of years refurbishing their 200-year-old home in Greene. Many hobbies included duck hunting with his golden retriever “Sandy”, antique car shows, carpentry and finish cabinetry. Also taking care of his cat “Rascal”. He was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren with all of their activities, interests and their future endeavors.

He is survived by his sister; Jacqueline (Girardin) Dumont of Lewiston, Maine and his five children; Joseph Girardin of Gardiner, William Girardin of Litchfield, John Girardin and wife Claire of Auburn, Laurie Hiscock and husband Michael of Auburn, Frances Stauffer and husband Mike of Auburn, seven grandchildren; Nicholas Girardin, Kathleen Hiscock, Elizabeth Stauffer, Hannah Stauffer, Christian Hiscock, Grace Girardin and Noah Girardin. Also, many brother/sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul was predeceased by his wife in 2019, his parents and brother, Conrad (William) Girardin.

From the family we want to thank all the nurses and staff at Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice for their love, support and compassion for Paul’s comfort and care. A special thank you to Lisa (Hospice Nurse) and to his home care giver Colleen for her loving care for the past two years.

Memorial Service to be held Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at East Auburn Baptist Church in Auburn. Visiting hour at 10 a.m., and service at 11 a.m., with a luncheon following. Graveside service will be held in the afternoon for immediate family at Litchfield Plains Cemetery in Litchfield.
