AUBURN — The YMCA Fit Fest is making its return this year, a year after all three events of The Greater L-A Triple Crown 5K Series were canceled because of the pandemic.
The race, which is usually the first of three held each year, will be held Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Court and Main streets.
The flat and fast race course, which is USA Track & Field certified, will take runners across Longley Bridge into Lewiston, right onto Canal Street, right onto Locust Street, left onto Lincoln Street to a turnaround. It will return to Lincoln Street, turn left into Simard-Payne Memorial Park, then right along the Riverwalk and finish at Festival Plaza.
A Kids Fun Run will be held at 8 a.m. at Festival Plaza. All children are eligible to participate whether they run, walk, skip, or are strolled through the course. Children can register on race day or during packet pickup events.
Event-day registration is from 7 to 8 a.m. at the plaza. The fee to register for the race is $30; the field will be limited to 500 runners.
Motorists should expect to encounter runners during the midmorning hours, and there will be traffic delays along the route between 8 and 9:30 a.m. due to road closures.
