Ethelbert W. Plummer
Ethelbert W. Plummer, 95, of Oxford passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2021 at his home. He was born in North Lovell on Sept. 14, 1925, the son of Wendell and Ada Andrews Plummer and attended schools in the Sweden area.
He was drafted twice into the United States Army, first in the World War II and then again during the Korean War, as a surgical technician. Ethelbert worked for Central Maine Power for many years, starting out as a lineman and working his way up to District Manager. He married Eleanor Paulette Kane on Sept. 18, 1948. He was a Scout Master for Gray Troop #86, a member of the Gray and Jay Kiwanis Clubs, a member of 4H and the Swinging Bears square dancing club. He showed horses at parades, horse shows and fairs.
He is survived by his children John Plummer, Elizabeth Derenberger, Maureen Reuter and Kevin Plummer; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his cat Brutus. He was predeceased by his wife in 1989; and his son Timothy Plummer in 2008 .
Burial will be private. A life celebration will be held on Friday, August 27 at 2 p.m. at the Oxford Community Center. Arrangements are under the care of Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Oxford.
