Rejane Noella Lemay
AUBURN – Rejane Noella Lemay, 100, died Aug. 30, 2021, at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home of Maine, a resident since 2014, and was accepted into the arms of her Loving God and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 24, 1920, daughter of Emile and Rachel (Cote) Fontaine. She was educated in Lewiston at St. Peter and Paul School.
On Jan. 29, 1945, she married her loving husband Raymond Leo as they began their family. After 62 years of marriage Raymond died in July 2007.
Survivors include her children, Gerry (Helen) Lemay, Suzanne Bechard, Bob (Cathy) Lemay and Marc (Faith) Lemay; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rejane was well known for her love and care of family, tireless compassion to those in need, a spirited sense of humor, the never-ending homemade candies on holiday occasions, and a creative knack to stir what she had available to feed her family.
Rejane served her church community as a Eucharistic and Pastoral Care minister and was well respected among the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality. In 1985 she was chosen and honored as Mother of the Year by parishioners.
Besides her husband she was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Maurice Fontaine Sr. and sister, Raymonde Cote.
A celebration of life will be held at East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Ave. on Sept. 8, at 11 a.m.
