On the morning of September 11th, Rangeley Fire & Rescue, Police and Public Works Departments led a memorial walk on the twentieth anniversary of the country’s tragedy. It started at the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce and ended at the Rangeley Overlook.

The distance was chosen as an indicator of the distance a first responder would have had to climb to go up and down each World Trade Center tower and a foot was included for every person who lost their life that day.

The walk began at 8 am and a majority of those who chose to line up along Main Street to pay their respects to the memory of the fallen first responders were moved to follow along and walk behind during this quiet and solemn event.
